Hi all, hope you've all had a good weekend so far.

Does anyone know if there is a repair section available for this area, and if so what would it be called?

Thanks,

Only the full kidney panel I'm afraid.

If you do replace the kidney panel, make sure the shell is properly braced - this area can be a serious 'pivot' between the bulkhead, the floor and the roof if it's removed.

Thanks for that. I was going to weld small plates over all the holes, would this be acceptable?

I would cut out the repair patches already in there and do it all in one repair - but otherwise perfectly OK in my opinion...

Is the kidney panel the whole panel with the pressed shaped in? Is the small plate a previous repair? How hard would it be to do the entire kidney panel?

Thanks in advance.

Its a key structural member, so requires care and bracing if being removed. beware the replacement panel as it has seemingly grown in proportion over the years, so if buying this keep what you have in situe and offer up the new panel to compare dimensions.
From your pic I'd be tempted to fabricate a repair to the original parts.

Thanks Jonathon. I think I'll do as you suggest. One question though, how can I clear up the surface rust on the top of the wheelarch behind the kidney panel? Also, I'd like to cover the area behind the kidney with waxoyl when the welding is complete, what would be the best way to do this?

Thanks for all your help.

If you look in the bottom right of your pic at the top of the page you will see a small hole where the trim clip fits that holds the kick panel on - This is a good place to insert the waxoil probe to get a good spray of it all up in the cavity.
