can anyone help? I need too make a couple of metel clips that hold the wire loom in place. not sure what they are called but they also hold the brake pipes. what type of metal do i need? and also the thickness? or is it cheaper too buy them off the shelf somewhere? thanks for any input.

My clips as you describe are pieces of steel spot welded to the bodywork as and where required, never seen them for sale - think you will have to cut a suitable strip of mild steel, bend it to shape and either weld it (them) or screw in position.

Standard P clips will do the job - should be available at local motor factors etc....
