A couple of minor things...

Firstly, it's nice to be back again now I have a resumed internet connection!

Secondly, I am having trouble with my nearside headlamp at the moment. It only seems to illuminate 'half-way' - as though it's behaving like a side light. Using the main beam dip switch makes no difference; it just stays a dim, golden yellow colour. I've changed the sealed unit and there's been no difference.

I also had a problem with my other light a few weeks ago as well - the thing was not illuminating at all - however, this turned out to be a loose connection at one of the bullet connectors. I've checked these on the nearside light and everything seems present and correct.

Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Cheers.

It sounds to me like an earthing problem. Check that the black wire, earth has a good clean connection and hopefully it will sort the problem.

It definately seems like an earth connection as it is affecting dip and mainbeam. I would check the earth lead carefully and also the earthing point on the inner wing.
Check the earth lead in the connector at the back of the light and if necessary run a separate wire from the earth terminal on the light to a good earth point on the body.
As you have changed to light unit it is unlikely to be a fault there but you could always test the original light to see if it was faulty.

Yep - it's earthing back through the non-powered filament. Run a new earth directly to the headlamp. This assumes of course that the wire connectors on the back of the headlamp haven't been mixed up ?
