I disconnected the propshaft from the diff end but i cannot for the life of me get it off the gearbox end. I did a bit of searching on the site and it jest says to pull it off. Me and a friend were pull as hard as we could but it didnt move at all. Has anyone got any ideas on how to get it off???
Thanks

A bit of brute force with a club hammer is called for. Try hitting the propshaft end behind the yoke

Usually - they just slide out - and all the gearbox oil runs out after it! But someone else had serious problems recently with this same thing - I think it does just need a bit of brute force (shock - horror!!) to get it free.

did you remember to mark up the diff and the prop so when you put them back together they are in the same position in relation to each other,
does it move at all? not even in a bit?
i also think a bit of force might be necessary

It will either go back the same way or 180 deg out. If it is balanced it won't make any difference. If you get a vibration turn it around. Meanwhile keep hitting the other end and also kicking the hubcaps.

So that's how all the nice hubcaps get dented. :D :D

Keep some old hubcaps and fit them when you feel the need :x

Maverick, did you get it out?

I'm about to try the same thing, single handed. If it took two of you, maybe I need to enlist some help.

Well, I guess if I can't shift it on my own, I can just do the rear flange up again and I'm no worse off.

Should I fit new nuts and bolts at the back while I'm at it?

Should be ok - clean them and add a spot of Loctite if worried. The prop shaft should just slide out - hopefully you will have drained the gearbox oil first - but still be prepared for a small puddle. If it won't slide out - you have to assume the splines have twisted - and/or the shaft and /or bush have worn into a step and are locked together!

Forgot to ask why you were taking the prop shaft off
