Mystery Gearbox

Post by BiMU »

Hi guys,

I'm actually a mini owner but a few months ago I received a load of spares from someone and now need to get rid of them. I have one remote gearbox which to my knowledge (as told by the guy that gave me the parts) is that it is a reconditioned box. The thing is I don't know what it is or spec etc...

Here are the pics:

I also have a 850 engine short block and another mystery block numbered 10MA-U-H 51487 - I think they might have been from a Morris Minor but not 100% sure. If anyone can help identify them that would be very helpful! I thought I'd see if I could get any feedback on here.

Thanks!

Welcome to the site. The 10MA-U-H engine is a Minor 1098cc one. Don't know about the gearbox though but as it's not a Minor one I'll move this thread to 'off topic'.

Details of engine codes here:

Ah thank you! Nice Minor! I was wondering if you may know how much the gearbox maybe worth?

Oh here's a pic of my mini:

Yep -Mini 4 syncro box - have to say, the 'dog teeth' on 2nd gear don't look too good. Could be worth anything from £10 upwards. advertise it on 'The Mini Forum' ! The eengine is indeed a 1098 block - but without a picture we don't know if it's Mini type - or Minor type. Post up a pic - especially of the end of the block - where the crank emerges.

Engine code 10MA signifies a Morris Minor Series 5 engine, or is the attached link wrong? :-?

It 'should' be a RWD Minor engine - but - it may have been used in a Mini! n It's easy enough to convert that way - not so easy the other way.

Ah ok. I'm a member of the 'The Mini Forum' just wasn't sure how to advertise it. I'll take a pic of the block tomorrow and post it in the evening!
