Easily overlooked, but a dodgy one on the brake pedal can have disastrous consequences!

Like a tyre, they need a good 'tread', and must be free from splits so there's no chance of them coming off in use.

Also, with winter coming, its a good idea to have a piece of absorbent carpet in the drivers floor well so you can give the bottoms of your shoes a wipe before driving in the wet. A must for the outdoor crew!

15 years ago I worried about pedal rubbers so bought some new ones - and they split and fell off in a year so I never bothered again.

Have never failed an MOT due to missing pedal rubbers - despite almost never having them on the Minors.

Vehicles with a smooth brake pedal pad which from manufacture did not incorporate grooves or the fitting of an anti-slip material should not be subject to rejection.
The provision of a pedal rubber which is itself an anti-slip material is not regarded as a reason for rejection if the design pattern is worn smooth

I guess they don't have to memorise it all as I've had cars passed with no pedal rubbers too.

The 'disastrous consequences' I had in mind had more to do with your foot slipping off the brake pedal just when you really don't want it to, rather than failing an MOT :) .

On my first Minor, many years ago, this happened. Wet day, wet feet and no pedal rubber = foot slipping off and getting stuck between the steering shaft and behind the pedal. It made for a few panic filled seconds while resolving a less than desirable situation. It was amazing how long those seconds were and how far the car went in those seconds.
