I use my morris van for commercial use as a builder and am therefore not eligible for the discount footman james club scheme. Past years have shown that its not that easy to get commercial insurance on an old vehicle and so I have stuck with insurance provided by towergate. However this year I baulked at the premium and searched on these boards for any suggestions. As i couldn't easily find any tips i'm just adding that I did get commercial insurance about £100 cheaper from :-

Is commercial use the same as business use?
When I've insured my modern motor this has been an option.
Never tried it but it seems to be an option with a lot of insurance companies.
What happens if you try one of the big insurance checking sites?

Funny business, motor insurance.
I had a Transit van insured for social, domestic and pleasure. When someone wanted me to transport loads of scrap aluminium, I contacted the insurer to ask about getting the right cover - the guy said he'd update my insurance to cover the transportation of goods, commercially.
When I asked how much I'd have to pay, he just said "Nothing"! Two days later I had the updated policy document! This was a well-known company with lots of ads on the telly.
