hydrolic clutch conversion

how hard is it to convert one's clutch from the traditional linkae variety to the nicer hydrolic variety?

First you'll need a clutch fork from a midget and the slave cylinder.
The master depends on what kit is available or what you can cobble together.

Nothing wrong with the linkage clutch - why do you think hydraulic will be nicer ??

I wouldn't bother with hydraulic and the std set up, rather go with concentric release bearing. Gives a very light smooth pedal. Its not a cheap option to take and requires setting up, but the rewards are worth while.

A hydraulic clutch is not worth the effort. There is a case for it with a diaphram clutch mechanism, but with a slight modification to the relay shaft, normal weight and pedal throw can be restored.

Converting to hydraulic would mean taking the gearbox out to replace the fork which is easy enough.
Finding a hydraulic clutch master cylinder and pedal that will fit then fabricating the mountings is the trickier bit.

The M/c and brackets are already commercially available.

Must depend on the kit, the one I had fitted did not require the gearbox to come out and used the original release fork left in situ. Only mod was to the gearbox crossmember and adjustible linkage rod.
Gearbox did have to come out if ball race release bearing was fitted though. I think I have scans of install instructions if anyone is interested.

i have a diaphram clutch on my engine (1275 midget) and have noticed it significantly heavier (performance clutch for some reason).
could you briefly outline what needs to be done??

Weld on a one inch extension to the lever on the relay shaft which connects to the clutch pedal and re drill the hole. This will restore the pedal movement and lighten the clutch.
