Hello everyone
I'm from Cyprus and I own a morris minor 948cc 1956 4d-saloon.
Recently i had a problem with my gearbox. The reverse gear stuck into the gearbox. The lever was moving up and down but nothing was happening. I could only move backwards.
The level of the oil was ok. I use the 20/50 oil.
Finaly i took it to the garage. The guy there fixed the problem but he wasn't able to tell me what the problem was.
He didn't change anything, he just unstuck the gear.
That was the second time in 8 months i had a problem like this. The first time i just couldn't put any of the gears. I stuck with the neutral. I just moved the car front and backwards a couple of times and the problem solved.
Do any of you know what the problem is?
Do i have to change the gearbox?
thank you!!

Either - don't go backwards, or yes, change the gearbox. You could try a gearbox rebuild - but frankly just not worth it with a 948 gearbox. Look for a good second-hand one!

Might be in short supply in Cyprus, unless you can break into one of the compounds of pre '74 cars!!!!!!!!!!
Check that the springs, plungers and locating pins and are in place at the base of the gear lever.
