More mysterious leaks!

The drivers foot well keeps filling up with water!

Originally the car had some leaks on the corners of the front screen which I have fixed & some leaks down the door posts (both sides, it's a 2 door saloon).
I have checked just after rain & the sill was wet but it wasn't running from anywhere... Then I checked the bottom of the door card, soaking & if squeezed more water appears.

My theory is that the water is getting into the door on the outside & coming out via the bottom of the door card on the inside before running over the top of the bottom door seal (which is also wet along it's length) & running into the floor pan.
Anyone experience this before?
Anyone have any idea of the path of water inside the door?
Presumably a new window seal/wiper will cure it which makes sense as this one is very ropey!??

Any comments / ideas appreciated.

Just need the space back in my under stairs cupboard! No use to me anyway! The front is pretty ropey apart from the frame, backs ok, just a couple of nicks & a good clean needed!
Goes without saying that I would make more effort to hook up with someone off of here!

Bump.... surely someone must have experienced a leak similar to this?? If not I'll make sure I report back when I get the door card off.

I'm pretty sure the card just pulls off with metal versions of what we now would call a fir tree clip am I correct & is there anything I should look out for?
Should I just replace the "wiper" seals at the bottom of the windows & leave the door card alone?? Does anyone know if this would cure it? Presumably new one are water tight??

Any thoughts appreciated!

i don't think the doors are supposed to be water tight. I think the theory is that water enters the door through the felt window strip, and exits via holes in the bottom of the door.

Perhaps these holes have gotten blocked up on yours, so your doors are filling up with water! hence making the door cards wet from the inside out.

Take them apart and have a feel around inside down the bottom of the door cavity.

I've looked there already all the holes are completely clear & there are even some extra drain holes rusted through too....

That's why I wondered if the window winder or something was pulling the water across.

Maybe it's just a case of bad sealing doors, I know they are definitely not that great a fit down at the bottom... Perhaps the rain is blowing in underneath & just happens to be getting the bottom of the door card too.
I pulled the door card off today & although there was some fresh water on the sill & in the footwell the door card was dry!

Guess I won't put the new carpets in yet then!

Hve a look at the rubbers around the quarterlights, and underneath teh 1/4light area... sometimes water can be pushed around these seals, and flows down the door. It could be collecting around the bottom of the trim panel. It's a bit of a long-shot, however.

I've cured the leaks from the quarterlight, not coming from there... how frustrating! If I get a dry weekend I'll get a mate to do a targeted hose spray & see if I can see it dripping..

If you replace them use the newer lip seal type as they not only give abetter seal but grip the glass and help reduce the rattling of the glass.

Ok will do. Think I ma finally have cured this one, fingers crossed..!

I think it was blowing in under my ill fitting doors!!
I seem to have cured it by fitting a self adhesive rubber seal opposite the one on the door so that they meet when the door closes.

Bit of a bodge but needs must!
