Marina disc brake pistons

We've had a bit of trouble with one of the LCV's front discs overheating, the pistons are a bit stiff. I dismantled the brake - found that both the pistons are not as smoothly-chromed as they once were. Other than that the bores and other aspects of the calipers are fine, I can easily buy the replacement seals kit, but can I find replacement pistons? Anybody know of a source please!

You could just get them turned up - in stainless steel.
Have you asked these guys ??

Yes I'd seen those thanks - but they do state '1.7 + 1.8 Marina' - so I was assuming they were larger than the 1.3 (should have measured whilst I had them apart!)
Wasn't sure whether it was politic and just who to ask at the Marina club site not being a member an' all....

I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you signed in to the forum and posted a question without actually joining the club. Plenty on here do.

Having done just that, and got an automated email response from the forum saying my account was set up but had to be activated on the 3rd, I've had no further contact from them. The log-in page says 'contact an administrator if you're having problems logging on' but of course if you haven't got an active account, there seems to be no way of contacting an administrator......round and round..... is there one of the members from this forum who is signed up on the Marina forum who could contact an administrator and get things unstuck, please? (I've used the same user name.)

You reminded me that I did ask this Q a few days ago - here are the answers!
1. Lucas Type 14 Caliper Piston is 48mm dia 29mm high used on loads of older cars like Capri and Mk1 Escort can also be found on Triumphs from Heralds and Spits to Dolomites.
A trawl through Ebay should find some, failing that call Big Redd as they claim they have stock.
In desperation call Rimmer Brothers or other Triumph parts companies.
Good luck
2.Follow this Link to Kitek, they are listed under Triumpg Spitfire MkIV but are the same calipers.

3.Big Red definitely have caliper piston seals, i bought some off of ebay, good quality and perfect fit

Thanks for that - I'd been thinking that Big Redd were the most likely candidates though it seems the 1.7 and 1.8 ones on Ebay are the right size, so that might be the easiest route. And I see there's a 'web admin' bods email for the marina forum, so I'll drop him a line too!

Excellent - all sources seem to be in agreement that the 1.7/8 pistons are the same as the 1.3s Hooray! Of course now I've taken the calliper appart and cleaned everything the pistons don't seem to be binding..... but I'll get the bits and give the brakes a birthday anyway. How's the rebuild progressing Timmo? If you want to pop round for a Moggie chat any time you're very welcome!

If the pistons are shiny - and not rusted - no reason to renew them!
