paypal
just woundering what others thought on the use of paypal when buying parts of other people
its a safe way to buy things and if theres any problems you can always cancel the transaction untill the problem as been resolved
we used this system on the viva owners club site and was very sucsesful

I use it regulary. A nice feature if you are NOT buying off ebay is that you can choose an option to send money as "personnal payment owned". This way the receiver does not get any charges nor does it cost the sender any extra

My dad had problems. My advice would be don't hold cash in the account, just use it as a means for transfer or payment. In effect the money just goes in and out at the same time. My dad for some reason left some money in his paypal account and within a few days it had gone! It took several stressful months before paypal coughed the money up.

I've been reasonably impressed with paypal so far, apart from a long saga when they wouldn't verify my account details and I couldn't pay anyone...
...but on the other hand, when someone installed spyware at work and I foolishly bought off e-bay (and then entered my details in paypal), I found the next day that someone had generously attempted to transfer themselves 600 quid. But I found this out because Paypal had already stopped the payment and my account, and e-mailed me.
They were very quick to resolve it

I have also found them very good at conducting security checks. I recently paid a large amount of money which was a 'one off' and different to my usual transactions. Within half an hour I received a phone call at home from paypal checking that the transaction was genuine before they released the funds.someone installed spyware at work and I foolishly bought off e-bay (and then entered my details in paypal), I found the next day that someone had generously attempted to transfer themselves 600 quid. But I found this out because Paypal had already stopped the payment and my account, and e-mailed me.
Also if there are problems with items purchased eg not as described you can raise a dispute.

Because many sellers don't wish to advertise which banks they use on forums and you can understnd why with all the scamming that goes on.bigjohn wrote:so why not have people who advertise parts for sale if they accept paypal or not??
just a thought

I've used paypal for a number of years and had no problem, but like a previous reply there are scammers saying you have a problem with your account, had a really good one the other day for high street bank looked to all intense and purposes genuine except I did not have an account with them, just delete them and use a bit of common sense and you will be fine with Paypal.
