over runs and choke

Post by markthe45king »

These are probably dunb questions (i make a habit of them) but:

After turning the engine off, it occassionally over runs, which only stops when the clutch is pressed down. What's causing this and how do i stop it?

Secondly, and these may be linked, she always needs the choke to start, whatever the weather. Any thoughts on this?

thanks

Choke is right -although if the engine is hot it surely doen't need the choke ? Running-on is caused by something glowing red inside the combustion chamber - carbon, or sharp edges of metal. Take the plugs out and look at them - are they stark white ? If so - it's running a little weak - would be worth richening up v slightly.

Do you use any fuel additive? My blue minor always runs on very briefly if I dont put additive in on at least evey other fill up.
