I am looking into the cost of shipping a 1275 engine (complete engine except for ancillaries).
Does anyone know the exact weight please?

Stand on your scales without the engine and then with the engine in your arms that will soon tell you

Well - my scales certainly won't go up that high! They may 'just' take the weight of the engine - although I fear the glass would crack.

I think I'd have to take off the weight of the stretcher I would likely be on aswell

Good grief you must have some muscles if you can balance it on your tummy while laying on a stretcher

Dan Harris recommended shiply.co.uk - I do not have any experiences so far - just contact him
BUT: recalling the idea of the "messageboard relay service" from where do you need it to be shipped?

I know I'd like to return the favour from when you helped get my gearbox to me but it's a bit out of my way

I've used Transglobal express to send some heavy things to Australia for a reasonable price

Thanks Mogwai but I think the idea is canned now as apart from the price the shipment would be classed as hazardous due to the oil in the engine and it's way too much hassle....

How about this?
Dutch auction for shipping:

Never tried it, having only heard about it today but seems like a good idea.
