One of those evenings.

Well, left Sky at home today while James fitted the new dynamo brushes, so when I got home we decided to fit the bits from Bull Motif to quieten the gear lever rattle.

Took the lever cover off and the 3 screws which revealed that the brass anti-rattle pin and spring were missing which was what I guessed was wrong.

But it took us nearly 2 hours to get the pin out that it fits into. In the end I had to take the passanger seat out so that I could drill into the pin to use a screw remover.

Got there in the end though and I'll see what difference it makes tomorrow.

It was all worth while, no rattle from the gearstick at all. :D

It's amazing how many other rattles I can hear now.

I said the same sort of thing to a seasoned mechanic when I was a lad. His reply? Just play your music louder :D !

No thanks, I prefer not to have my ears assaulted by rattles or loud music.
Cars with rattles feel like old bangers.
I was shocked how rattly an almost new Ford was compared to my Minor.

Can I recommend Thomas Leer and Robert Rental.. "the bridge" to listen to if your car makes lots of odd noises the sleeve notes contain the notes "all blips clicks and un seemly noises were generated by refrigerators and other domestic appliances & are intrinsic to the music"

I still can not listen to it in the car without thinking something is about to fall of it! it hides a lot of noises..
