2 brake circuits in a minor?

I was wondering if a modification to a 2-circuit brake system is available.
Today i met someone from J&L Spares (www.jlspares.com) on a oldtimer exibition in Maastricht NL. He showed me a mastercilinder that would probably fit where the mastercilinder now is, with the same 2 holes for the bolts to mount it on the chassis. Some additional modifications to connect the brakepipes needed to be done. It was a rather expensive solution i think: 170 Euro's.

Has anyone experienced such a modification?

Are there other 2-circuit mastercilinders e.g. from other cars that would fit in the minor?

170 Euros for a twin circuit master cylinder isn't too bad.
That's about twice the price of a standard Morris Minor master cylinder, but these are very cheap compared to other old-timers!

Theo,

I fitted a tandem master cylinder (from a Suzuki van) 5 years ago in the chassis rail (same spot as original). I made new brackets to secure it &, as the car was being rebuilt at the time, made new pipes to suit & fitted a remote reservoir under the bonnet (which also feeds the hydraulic clutch).

A kit is now for sale out here using a Ford master cylinder (Econovan - same as Mazda E2200 if they're over there) which has brackets attatched to mount using the original master cylinder holes. I don't think the original brake pipes are suitable for reuse due to length requirements.
It's being sold here (using a new master cylinder) for $175.00 (75pounds).

Most states over here require a tandem master cylinder to be fitted if larger engine are to be fitted.

Thanks Scott,

I'm now rebuilding it in the original state, but will take all major measurements of the original mastercylinder. Will keep my eyes open for a tandem master cylinder that will fit. If i can't find anything like that over here i will have come to Australia. Looking for a good reason to tell my wife we have to make the trip.
