As a new member to MMOC I went along to the Kent Branches Hop at Gravesend on Sunday 20 Sept, what a great day it was down by the River Thames which was a great backdrop for all these Morris Minors.
Friendly folk, great setting and all things MM, it was nice to be able to walk around looking at other people's cars and getting bits of information from their owners. Unfortunately my own newly aquired minor was in the garage having various bits and pieces done to her, but next year I shall definitely be in line with the rest of them.<br>

Yes it was a very nice run this year. The Kent Hop is probably my favourite rally of the year as it actually involves driving the cars rather than just parking them up in a field! I've always enjoyed the driving rallies best as it's great fun seeing people wave at you on the route, and the expressions of sheer amazement on some faces at the sight of so many Minors all driving in convoy! The Surrey Hills Branch do occasional runs like this but the Kent Hop always has a great turnout of nearly 100 cars. Now that the London Bridges Run has died a death, and more tragically, the London to Brighton Run is no more, this is sadly the only major driving rally that seems to take place in the South East.

What happened to the London to Brighton Rally, then? And when did it finish?

Basically it just got too expensive to run. Details are here:

Shame as it was always a great day out.

I went on one with the MG owners club a few years back around May, which started at Crystal Palace park and ended up at Madeira Drive. They also went from from Brooklands to Brighton. I suppose it depends how many people are interested?
You never know, it might happen
