Well I have completed day one of my 1,000 mile trip around the west of NSW here in Australia. Beautiful weather and car performing well, except for a problem with points after about 200 miles. Seems the gap had been set too wide (I'm SURE I did this right) meaning dwell angle was too low, resulting in the plugs progressively oiling up. The fault really got bad on a mountain called Mount Victoria - just as well I was heading down not up!
Anyway, a quick call in to a friendly auto electrician confirmed the problem and he set the dwell angle for me with his meter. The car now runs better than ever and I have noticed idle speed has increased and top speed now sits close to 60 mph! Not that I am pushing it that hard.
Here I am soaring along the Aussie highways...
And at the bottom of Mount Victoria
Will send more pics tonight! Cheerio!

Day Two - 250 miles. Car has been running beautifully now that points set properly. Cruising at 50 mph happily and eating the hills (well....some of them....)
Only drama is a rattle in the dashboard which is driving me CRAZY!! Other than that all good. Fingers crossed for another good day tomorrow!

Day Three, and all going well apart from the LH rear damper coming a little loose with all the pot holes in the roads! A quick tighten and all is well.
A few more pics of Aussie country towns.....
