what structural strengthening would be required inorder to allow the conversion of my moggy into either a convertable or a cobrolet

I 'think' you can buy a kit of parts to do this ?

Yes you can look for that at bull motif or others company like that.

Stating the obvious, but do the strengthening before taking off the roof. I have made some realy dumb mistakes in my time! Not that one, but along the same line of stupidity

Trouble with the original 'copy' kit is that it only turns a pretty rigid saloon car into a skuttle shaking ,flexible convertible. Original convertibles are quite flexible so look into strategic placing of additional strengthening.
As MA states though brace and weld in this kit before removing the roof.

Installation of a proper full roll-cage will stiffen the car - and is surely wise anyway with any 'roofless' car!

Regarding the original questions, my understanding is that a triangle of steel is welded to the rear of the 'B' post, and that part of the main chassis exposed when the rear seat is taken out. Problem is, in my opinion, a Moggie 'B' post (the pillar in the middle of the car) is not a very substantial element, and may need 'beefing up' somehow.
Perhaps an expert could pop in and reveal more, as I am curious how the 'B' post could be strengthened adequately without removal of the external panel.
