accessories, Does anybody know if....

Post by davidmiles »

Hi all, Does anybody know if Morris (or Austin later on in history) produced an after sales accessories brochure/ list for things like, petrol can holders, spare tyre covers, after market replacment gear knobs and badges. I bet these parts are well sort after and collectable. But was there an official catalogue issued in the sixties and early seventies?

BMC produced accessories brochures for most of their models but I'm not sure if there was one accesssories brochure to cover all their makes. The Minor accessories brochure contains details of mirrors, lamps, roof racks, rugs, gear knobs, wheel trims, lamps, mats etc that were available as optional extras. They come up on e-bay fairly regularly.

Wow Thanks Louise, I'll keep an eye open, nothing like a good brows through an old out of date catalogue to make your family and friends raise their eyes to the ceiling.

I have some "period" pedals rubbers (they still had the Lsd pricing on the packet. 4/6 Red brake - green accelerator and orange clutch!

You can find many sales brochures etc in autojumbles.

Its amazing what you can dig up at autojumbles if you really look, and have an idea what you are after.

A radio and a heater could also be added as an optional extra to LCV's, and a passenger seat for vans. No mention of any petrol can holder though.

You could always look for a can with "Morris" on the side - similar to the ones they used in the 50's and 60's to top up radiator water on the forecourt these crop up in autojumbles as well. If you find a dealer who sells the metal signs they usually have these jugs/cans as well.
