Weekend Happenings.

Post by limegreen »

I had a few mechanically minded mates down this weekend, and I was inside making a cup of tea, when, LO AND BEHOLD: I hear that my car is started up, and fits of boyish giggles drift in through the window (three boys and a girl, not including myself), followed by the usual smell of the engine.
They'd found the starting handle.

Ohh dear.

They've tried to persuade me to start it like that every time, but I fear for my thumbs - I'm not so good with sudden flicks.
Well, at least we know she starts first time with a twist of the handle!

As a side note: Who knows anything about CVT gearboxes? One of my friends had one in his little Micra. I've got a Fiat 600/Zastava 750 coming over from Serbia (Well, Vienna. It broke down on it's first attempt.) next week, and I was thinking of looking into CVT for it - lovely and nippy, or just a bit different? Considering I'm not a fan of automatic, it'll probably never happen.

That Micra. Oh dear: We had to have a trip to Halford's to change his disc brakes. They wore out right down to the steel, but thankfully not quite enough to grain the actual disc! Needless to say, I gave him a lecture, and made him change them in the car park, along with making him promise to change his tyres when he got home... they were almost bare. Sure, he had a lovely sound system and a shiny souped up engine, but safety was ignored!
He's considering a Mog as his next car though, but I'll have to be on to him about maintenance.

Over 'n' Out.
