replacing brake cylinders - pattern or Lockheed?

Say not the struggle naught availeth...

Just changed out one of the rear brake cylinders, as it had seized. This was a few scant weeks after changing out one of the forward cylinders for the same reason. As it was a rush job, I put in a pattern cylinder, as that was what Local Moggy Place had available.

Reasoning that, with my luck, there is a bit of a theme developing here, I thought it would be prudent to think ahead and do the other ones too.

So, is gen-ew-ine Lockheed worth the extra money? Or is that a daft question? I'm good at those

I understand there have been a few quality issues with pattern parts so I'd go with the Lockheed if I were you. Buying cheaper parts can sometimes work out to be a false economy.

Pattern front cylinders have an O ring seal - rather than the bucket of the originals. So far - mine (fitted to Wolseley 9" drum backplates) have been fine ! They seem well enough made - just a different design. Can't say anything about rears - I have a stock of standard cylinders.

And again, lockheed everytime; particularly on the rears where LH fit through the hole and pattern require "persuasion".

That last point alone is enough to swing it for me; had to remove the hub assembly to change out the pattern one on the other side... Lockheed ordered! Thank you, all
