i have had my moggy for 5 years now, and before that it sat in a hedge for about 10 years.
so, with that in mind, would it be an idea to empty the earbox and axle of oil and replace or just simply top them up?

"EarBox"
Not knowing how old the oil is,, is enough cause to change it.
Run the car for 5 miles before draining the gearbox as it will warm a little. Jack the car up from the front and use axle stands.
Find a suitable sized spanner.
And get a drain can and drain all the old gearbox oil out.
View the colour of the oil and report back.
Make sure every last drop has drained before you replace the oil sump nut.
To Fill the gearbox lift the carpet around the gear lever and you will see a bunge. Remove bunge and you will see a filler nut. undo this and then fill to the bottom of the threads.
Use Engine oil "20W50" to fill the gearbox.
The Back axle is similar It requires 90W EP Hypoid oil.
you need a multi sump nut tool to remove the drain nut. Drain oil and refill from top nut until it slowly over flows. Do not overtighten the nuts as you will need to be a matcho man to remove them again.
Hope this helps.
