What colours were the aluminium lever arm shocks in the engine bay originally please? I've seen some polished to a mirror finish and others painted. Since I'm painting the rest of the engine bay anyway I might as well clean them up.

I suspect just natural colour!

Hmm they're crusty aluminium under black hammerite at the mo. I like the idea of polishing up and lacquering but it's a bit blingy for me and paint is quicker than polishing up.
