Speedo death

Post by dollywobbler »

Hi

I work on Classic Car Weekly (yes, the bearer of bad Moggie news this week I'm afraid...) and am currently looking after a friend's 948cc Traveller - the first time I've had a Moggie to spend a lot of time with.

Sadly, despite having the car less than a week, there have been some issues, culminating on this morning's commute with the speedometer dying suddenly on me. Any idea what to check first?

Ta

I would guess the cable has snapped. Other possibility is siezure of the needle. Does the mileometer still work? If not it is cable.

No miles being clocked up, so cable it is I guess.

The cable may just have worked loose - check it!

Awesome track action hey! :)

Speedo out isn't too hard - when you disconnect cable you should be able to feel if it's broken or kinked or just loose by twiddling end.

Cool - thanks. I hoped to have a look over the weekend but got distracted by one of my other motors. I've quickly had the transmission tunnel bung out and have given the cable a quick tug - does appear to be attached at least.

It will be attached - but the fixings at both ends need to be tight!
