Worn Bushes in Torsion Bar Eye-Bolt

I suspect that my car has the above on the nearside; the suspension squeaks whenever you go over a bump - but the noise disappears when it rains!
I've had a good look through the Haynes Manual plus Lindsay Porter's resotration manual. In neither book can I find specific instructions on the procedure for dismantling this part of the lower suspension.
Can anyone share the expertise and recommend a procedure?
PS - can I only place axle stands under the very front corners of the chassis, or can I place them further back - it's just that they get in the way for work on this area.
Many thanks in anticipation.
