Moggie insurance

Post by pjh56 »

Hi All
Now i've got the car I was wondering if there are any particular insurance companies that stand out from the others. Im looking to accrue NCD from the policy as I haven't had a car for a few years as my NCD has lapsed.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you an MMOC member? If so you can get discounted insurance via the club insurance scheme with Footman James.

I am an MMOC member but unfortunately my partner has the garage for the mg and I have to park on the drive, which makes me ineligible for Footman James as they stipulate you must have the car garaged overnight. Pity really as the drive is behind lokced gates.
Have you heard of anyone in a similiar circumstance.

As you can see we have 5 Minors - 1 garage. I have a Collector Policy from FJ and have had no problems from them. They have to be "on the drive" - that's all.

Thanks Regaliaqueen
I tried to get an online quote from them which stated garaged only but will give them a ring and see what they can offer.
Impressive collection, this is my first car I have just purchased so trying to find my way about.

I am with footman james and have only ever parked my car outside the house ... I dont even have a drive, as it's a terraced house .... FJ have never had a problem with that.

Thanks for the replies, I have just spoken to FJ and been given a quote for my new MM to be parked on the drive. I think they should re word their online site as it does say they require the car to be garaged. I wonder how much business they lose by this, as i'm sure people discount their product because of the wording.
It's great to belong to a club where people are friendly and keen to share information to relative newbies such as myself.

Glad you've got something sorted. The problem with any on-line quote is that the parameters are always very rigid so it's always a good idea to ring, particularly for insurance quotes.

Anyway, welcome to the site. You've come to the right place for friendly help and advice :D

Obtained a couple of quotes, not a lot of difference in price only the excesses
£160 with one company
£50 with another
I think I shall go for the one with the lower excess, i'll have to pay slightly more on the policy but that outweighs the other excess if I have to make a claim.
