How difficult (easy) is to to change the oil filter thingy so that it will take a screw on oil filter?

You can either buy a complete kit from one of the specialists or if you have a local scrap yard take one of a Mini, if I remember the kits are around £20 complete and quite easy to fit.

The only slight snag is that you have to change the long studs that hold the existing filter - for shorter ones. And you have to obviously take off the oil transfer pipe - and it's quite easy to twist that pipe if not careful!

Some of the kits use the original head with an adapter. Even easier to fit, no studs to change, no risk to the pipe.

Sorry about the possibly naive question, but where would I buy the simplest possible kit?

" original head with an adapter " - seriously ? Not seen one like that - nor do I understand how it would work. Best place by far is on ebay or in scrappy - get the bits off a Mini.

Well - never heard of that before! Well found! I see they list a kit for my TR7 - and also listed is a kit for the Avro Lancaster - pressumably 4 off required!
