Did you know that a standard, 1968 Morris Minor, loaded with five fully-grown men and 27 of those 24 x 0.25l glass beer bottle packs from the supermarche, will get you up the hill out of Dover without a hiccup?
Think about it for a moment! Like, where do you put all that beer?
No roof rack...no trailer....just the car.

Good question.
Never felt them. Or anything else of an adverse nature. I just accelerated up the hill, and then down to the party in Clapham.

You probably never felt them because the springs never left them

I think the most impressive part was that you fitted it all in!
Try fitting 2 adults , a weeks luggage and 4 beer crates in a 2001 MR2 - sounds easy until you try it - it's impossible

The A2 or the A20?
Both probably as impressive as each other but I think it might have struggled on the Dover road out of nearby Folkestone.

A20, up to the motorway. I wouldn't have been so happy going the other way ie down the hill!
I'd called in on friends in London on the way back to Manchester, after a weekend in France. They were sitting around a table working out where to buy the beer for a birthday party, and I showed them a 24-pack and told them the price.
It worked out cheaper for five of us to go from Clapham back to Calais and buy the beer there! This was around 1985. It was a lovely sunny day, with the sea almost as smooth as glass. Of course, I had to abstain...........the party began on the ferry going out!
