Which Moggie jobs you do least like?

Can't say 'hate'.....how crude! And how do you make the task more appealing?

Mine is valve gap setting, more so as I get older - quite an awful back bend! I suppose raising the front is the answer, if you don't have access to a lift. I've just thought of this, so maybe this could be a useful thread.

If this has been done already, please point the fact out.

Everyone always says that, but it really isn't! The trick is to develop an effective way to get the torsion bar out of the way.....

My technique involves 20mm steel box, a jack and a G Clamp.

Worst job? Hmm, can't really think of anything off hand - theres nothing too bad at all on the morris

I'd go for the clutch too, but welding underneath comes a close second.
Putting the car on its side is definitely the civilised way to weld the underneath.

Fair comment Dan about the torsion bar, I do something similar myself. I always have bother undoing the pipe out of the cylinder though!

You are right saying that there are no truly hard jobs on the moggie, I think problems are just caused by the cars age and previous owners bodges.

Regarding clutch changes, I always take the engine out, its far easier than removing the gearbox. I dont disturb the front panel either.

Mine is valve gap setting
On an OHV engine? You don't know you've been born.
Try it on a side valve engine then you will have something to complain about!!

This is an interesting point. Is the 'worst job' model specific? I’ve only owned A series Minors so have no point of reference but it may be interesting to see what difference the models throw up…..

Replace them with bolts then you can spin them off with a socket and wrench

prepping for a full respray is my least favourite job.
I've done it one and a half times - I never finished the second one!

one!"

Try moderate amounts of alcohol and loud music. If you're doing it by hand ie no power tools or electricity involved....just sand to the rhythm!!
