3rd gear louder than the rest

when driving around and the mog is in 3rd it seems to be louder than 1,2 and 4 i presume this is a gearbox problem any ideas whats wrong or kind of put me in the right direction to get it sorted

Well - start off with an oil change ! drain off the old and refill with 20W50 engine oil. ASDA stuff will be fine. If that doesn't help then it's down to general wear and tear on the various bearings - mostly the 'lay gear' bearings and shaft. Untill it starts jumping out of gear - don't worry about it! But you can of course pull it out and renovate it - if you have the time and skills.

thanks, will give oil a change i'm pretty sure it needs it anyway.
