Having bought this early dash panel at a car boot of all places, it was only when I got it home I realised it had a different fitting system to any I,ve ever seen before.
Instead of the usual tabs that bolt below the dash it has tabs with bolts on the ends and a bar with a stud on it across the back. I cant see any where that has been cut or ground to remove the typical fixing and the tabs do look factory.
Question is what have I bought? a very early one or a moddified one?
anybody know?

The chrome to the trim rings looks good under the paint.

Never seen one like that before, then again unless one was taken out you would not spot the difference. Maybe Carlo will know.

The MO dash is bigger with extra gauge holes

I can't see your pictures (blocked at work) but it sounds like a very early MM dash panel. My #1228 doesn't have the tabs underneath & it's secured by 3 studs.

Scott is right, it is an early dash cover and my early lowlight (3048) also has this type fitted. Not sure when they were changed to the other, later type, but if you need a later type one to fit to your vehicle rather than modify the one pictured then let me know and i will swop you if you like?
