while driving round this weekend my fuel gauge stoped working. so i left it till i got home after a 206 mile journey within the last 20 miles. my speedo started wobbleing at 60mph it only use to do it at 30 mph and it is a fairly new cable. also the milage meter dosent move freely. it jumps.
i need to check if the fuel gauge has a live.
has anyone got any tip i can try to fix it.

Problems not related - fuel gauge - need to check supply/voltage stabiliser/wiring to tank/connection at tank/sender inside tank - pretty much in that order.
Speedo - looks like the mileometer gears are binding up - and that's causing the speedo to jump about. May be a swell to simply buy another - from ebay etc. Just note the 'tpm' from your speedo - and get another with same figure.
