Does anybody know what size the tapping is in a 1098 block below the thermostat housing to take a water temperature sender unit?
i have all the matched parts from a mini to put in - i don't want to take out the blank only to find i then need an adaptor.
i've checked in all my books - not a mention.

If you have the sensor from a Mini - it will fit just fine. It's the same engine !

If you are using a Smiths electric temp gauge then you will have a male thread which will screw straight in.
If you were to use a capillary gauge such as the MG dual gauge then you would need a male to female adaptor

A neighbour bought a new capilliary gauge without the adaptor and found the bulb end too long to go in without bottoming on the casting. Guess what he did?
First correct answer wins a file and a puddle of ethanol fluid.
