Are all rear seats the same??

Post by littleblackflash »

Hello... 1st post for me!!

I've been fitting a complete interior to my 59 traveller and I have a problem with the rear seat. The cover on the base never fitted right and I was hoping that a new cover would solve the problem. Wrong.

The wood part and the springs are too small, probably about 3" too narrow and also I have no springs under the back corners.

I'm thinking I may have a saloon base fitted. Is the traveller seat base wider?

Welcome to the forum! The Traveller rear seat base is certainly NOT the same as the saloon - whether it's wider or not - I'm not sure. But someone who does know will be along in a minute!

Thanks.

I've seen some seats for sale on ebay and from the pictures I'm almost certain my seat base is wrong. The problem is I had all the springs and front frames powder coated and they look like new.

Does anyone have an old traveller seat for a car with the small type arm rests?

Really? I thought the trav seat base was the same as the 2 door minor.

The four door rear seat is entirely different to the two door, that I do know... :)

I believe the Traveller seat base (bit you sit on) is the same as a 2dr but of course the Traveller back is completely different to all other models.

the traveller rear seat is slightly different, where as on the 2 door the springs just flap about underneath ( so to speak ) on the traveller there is a wooden base to the seat so that when you tip it forward the back rest can lock into it.

Sounds like I have a hybrid seat. My wooded base is much larger than the springs. :(

I saw that advert on ebay but £70inc delivery is a bt steep when I just need the base. I'll call ESM in the morning and see if they have a second hand one. They are only an hour from me.
