Why assume that it has been moderated? :-? It doesn't break any T&C's.

Checking all the previous threads containing the link to the diagram (one shown below) the diagram is also missing from these. The problem seems to be due to the picture being removed at source, which the moderators can do nothing about. Sorry. Perhaps badfelafel can advise as it is his diagram.

For my, and maybe many other people, what does a moderator do on this site and what training do you have from MMOC for this role

For my, and maybe many other people, what does a moderator do on this site
The more useful stuff we do:
a) Delete porn, spam, abuse and adverts that appear sporadically on the site.
b) Advise users behind the scenes that their comments to another user could be taken as offensive - nearly always with a good outcome / removing the need for any post moderation.
c) Move posts from General section into Technical / wanted / for sale etc...
d) Fix broken links in user's posts (most common example is a full stop on the end of a hyperlink will stop it working)
e) Moderate comments criticising a supplier/trader/firm
f) Take the time and effort to help users who are a bit forum unaware (how to use PM's, how to post in the right area, reasons you might want to reconsider posting your home phone number / email addy online etc..)
g) generally try and keep the place friendly and working within the T&C's
h) make sure the club is properly informed about club website rallies so that the club insurance can be applied.
j) attend moderators meetings a couple of times a year - usually one will be after the AGM, allowing the committee to give any feedback they feel is neccessary. Other times we've been requested to attend committee meetings etc..

Then additional to that, Kevin (chief mod) is responsible to check if there were reports of wrong moderation, and is responsible to remind us of what we're meant to be doing if needed.

In events where a user is causing havoc on the site, it gets passed up the tree to Webmasters who have admin rights e.g. to block users - only ever done as a very last resort, but there's hardly a forum out there that's not been trolled up.

Hope that helps.

Ray: I used to be a mod on www.uk-polos.net using the same name as on here and it is pretty thankless, pretty time consuming and not that rewarding.
to anyone who thinks its easy imagine that you have to read EVERY post as soon as you can after its been posted. when you get in from work its not a case of "oh ill just jump on the forum" its a case of "I have to check the forum". Then its the same before bed etc.

Im sure the comments above were meant to be light hearted but may have struck a nerve (as humour can be tricky to convey electronically)

p.s. if you want to see that its like without moderation ive always found that forums about modified cars with guest accounts enabled, low users and high post counts tend to be a good indication of the end of the world ;)

Thats what the smilies are for
people sometimes forget to put them with their humour... I'm guilty of that a few times myself
