Thought I'd share this as its something I've found.
http://www.voipcheap.com/en/freetrialcall.php
Put the numbers in and you get a free "trial call" in anticipation of you joining the service - call is limited to 5 minutes and then cuts off but no limit to the amount of times you can use it!
It could get very wearing for a long call but for a quick one its brill
I've only tried it for landlines so far, no idea if Mobiles or 0845s work

My 'Orange' Livebox gives me an 'additional line' - with free VOIP calls from that to any landline anywhere in the world !

Thing is Roy, that not everyone has that benefit! Thought I would share for anyone that may find it useful!

this reminds me of a time back in the late 80's I was having a tea break in a telephone exchange here on Anglesey when I pick up a leaflet on how to cut cost of ones telephone bill by half so for a laugh i rang the number on the leaflet answered the questions that were being asked and gave my name as I W Ring and the address of the (unmanded) telephone exchange. 4 or 5 days later a small jiffy bag arrived address to I Wil Ring, I opened the bag and in side was a small pair of plastic sissors with instructions on how to cut my phone bill in half. It was a picture of a phone bill with dotted lines across the middle and the words saying cut here

Dan - anyone can switch to Orange - and get a Livebox and free calls etc! It was a real bargain - but recently they have pushed the cost up slightly - although still well worth it if prone to calling overseas!

Be that as it may, some people may not want to use Orange (myself included - terrible service in the past!) and there are plenty of other better/cheaper providers out there!
This was just a quick win posted in case anyone would find it useful!
