Price of concourse condition minor & Morris car show?

Post by h20_mako »

Any idea how much does it cost in the UK for a concourse condition,

1. MM Convertible?
2. Series 2 convertible?
3. 1000 convertible?

My dad has informed me there is usually a UK Morris minor car show in november? Any idea what it is called?

There's no easy way to put a price on a concours car.
#1 and #2 are not available for sale...
#3 will depend on whether it is a resto Concours or genuine unrestored. You can put a price on a restoration ~£15k to ~£25k and the owner may struggle to get half of that some back when selling.
For the unrestored example, it depends on what price the seller will accept!

However there are a some very good (but not neccessarily concours) convertibles in the region £4k to £6k.
As we are in a recession, the prices can be pushed down - however this often means that people won't sell!

Jan 06: The Minor SII Africa adventure: http://www.minor-detour.com
Oct 06: back from Dresden with my Trabant 601 Kombi
Jan 07: back from a month thru North Africa (via Timbuktu) in a S3 Landy
June 07 - back from Zwickau Trabi Treffen
Aug 07 & Aug 08 - back from the Lands End to Orkney in 71 pickup
Sept 2010 - finally gave up breaking down in a SII Landy...
where to break down next?
2013... managed to seize my 1275 just by driving it round the block :(

There are Morris Minor shows all year round. If you get Minor Matters it tells you when the shows are and if they have concours judging. You can also look at the 'what's on' section of this website.

The only show I know that's on in November is the National Classic Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham on around the first or second weekend of the month.

The club usually has a stand but the cars probably won't be for sale. There is a section of the show set aside specifically for classics for sale, but again there might not be any Minors for sale. Best check nearer the time with the organisers.

Well I presume that would have been the national rally, although it was in June and you just missed it I'm afraid.

It Rare to find a top flight concours car for sale full stop, I have never seen one for sale at any Rally or National that I can remember in the last ten years.
The nearest was Roger's one at our Rally last year and that went rather quickly and that was a 57 saloon if I remember correctly.

The only way to get a concours car is to buy the best car you can find (condition not price) and improve it yourself until it reaches the coucours standard. Once someone has a concours car they very rarely sell it.
