i have to say i hated the bridgestone 145's the side wall too soft and it made the car handle like a jelly.
deeply unpleasant I am now looking at buying a set of budget tyres because they can not handle any worst.

Do NOT even consider crossply tyres! The nearest radial tyre size for a Minor is 145 x 14 - but the 155 versions are also very popular , and although slightly too wide for the standard wheels - they do work just fine if inflated to ~ 30 psi.
You could try Cooper Bros at Newmains - their Dad has an immaculate Rover 2000 !

And the world has moved on - the road grip and handling on standard 5:20 x14 tyres was dreadful!
Although - the Avon Tyre Co tried very hard with their Avon Wide Safety tyres - these were low profile crossply tyres - and I used them (bald = slicks!) on my Mini to great effect in Sprints - and Tour of Mull Rally. They handled very much like racing tyres of the era! Great fun sliding the car around !

True but they were still standard fit.

If you are keen on originality then go for crossplies otherwise enjoy the superior roadholding of a decent set of radials

Bearing in mind the originality of OJO, radials were not a consideration, That was until returning from a Series MM rally on a wet day
