Dont worry too much Dale as whiny diffs tend to last a long time and many moggies have a certain amount and unless its getting really loud it should be OK.

I agree with Bill and MG only stands for Morris Garages anyway.
Bill I have heard good things about Activ 8 but is it suitable for diff's as I thought it was only for engines and gearboxes.

Hmm certainly looks good, I wonder when it should be used though because if you have a recent engine rebuild or recon it need some miles to bed in properly.

I would agree with you there Kevin.

thats the same test used overhere years ago by Wynns and a bit later by Forte, interesting they both sold a warranty with it for extra money to protect engines gearboxes and diffs with suitable additives to match.But it had to be installed by registered dealers and serviced by them for the warranty to be effec tive.Deal used to cost about 200 quid inyour money thats about 30 years ago.Products are good just like insurance you buy it but hope never to need it ceeyas

The original stuff was Slick 50 - same claims etc. It's certainly an impressive test - and hard to argue with! I did use Slick 50 on my competition engines - and since the frequently changed oil from them was re-cycled through my road car - in that too! The usual comments apply of course - why is it not incorporated in the oil anyway/why do manufacturers not insist on it's use in their engine etc etc. I don't know if there is a truly independent assessment anywhere of any improvemnt in mpg after adding this compound - it certainly used to be one of the Slick 50 claims.

That's very true. When running a rebuilt engine it is essential NOT to use additives. In fact special 'running in' oil is available to make the process quicker and more effective. Modern oils can be too good for running in.
