Hi , I am attempting to install new wiper motor mounting grommets and finding it impossible to press them into the openings . Is there a trick to this operation or are these just another example of poor replacement parts ? Thanks

Try warming them in hot water.

It helps if you swear at them a lot.

Actually I think I used a blunt flat-bladed screwdriver to 'persuade' them.

I used a special rubber lubricant available at all good chemists. I bought a tube of it when I fitted the windscreen rubber. Which is why those who have visited my garage may have spotted it on the shelf! It is water based and doesn't leave any residue.

Explain that to your girlfriend if you can.

OK , I soaked them in hot water , lubed with brake rubber grease , pinched oval with needle nose pliers to start one side , worked in to place with a large screw driver and a ball ended Chrysler dealer rubber tool . All the while swearing non stop . Minor damage to the grommets and lots of paint scratches around the area . Thanks to all for the help .
