What did you buy at the National?

Here's my little haul of spares from the National: :D

Image

1. Rocker cover with vent pipe.
2. Two pairs of crankshaft thrust washers, one pair of which is +3 oversize for use with reground crankshafts (seemingly unavailable new). Free! :D
3. Four used coils (I gave one away because it was the wrong type and I fitted the best one to the car before I set off back because I no longer trust the new ones after one failed on me on the way to the National).
4. A set of +20 piston rings with one broken ring for £5 (ideal because I previously bought a set of +20 pistons that had several broken rings). :D
5. A fancy cooling fan with four spring-loaded blades that automatically reduce the pitch at high revs to save on power and fuel.
6. Solenoid.
7. Water jacket drain tap.
8. Standard cooling fan and water pump pulley.
9. Indicator switch shroud.
10. NOS steering rack gaiter. Much better quality rubber than the new ones! Sadly this was the only one I could find because I would have bought up as many as I could if there had been any more. :-?
11. Assorted brake banjos, nipples, and T-pieces (I've had problems with poorly made new ones leaking).
12. Odd little brass fuel tap with strainer (maybe from a lawnmower?). Not a Moggy part but I couldn't resist the lure of the Shiny. :)
13. Brake banjo with two outlets. Not sure what this is used for (servo setups perhaps?) but it caught my eye and it was only 50p!
14. Spin-on oil filter conversion (the type that fits in place of the standard oil filter housing).
15. Thermostat housing (free!).
16. NOS top hose. Hopefully less prone to cracking than the new kevlar ones.
17. Dynamo. This was the only one I could find that didn't have a rumbly front bearing or some other obvious fault.
18. 4.22:1 diff (formerly in Dan's Trav).
19. Coil mounting bracket.
20. Washer pump.
21. NOS ring gear.
22. Traveller tow bar (sold to me as suitable for both travs and saloons. After looking at all the cars with tow bars at the rally I came to the conclusion that this is simply not true. Lucky I have a trav as well as a saloon! :D).

Anyone else come away with some choice bargains? Anyone buy more stuff than I did? :)

Seat bases so we can put metro seats in Bella (thanx to Lou who found then!) and a new hood frame. Having checked around the other convertibles Bella's seems to have been constructed from part moggy frame/part MG/any bit of metal to hand  So next job is to remove hood from old frame. :D

Bought: a new tyre, a very good radiator, some wiper arms with decent springs.
Collected: A much better windscreen

And for a change - I didn't buy any panels!! I did nearly buy a complete bulkhead crossmember for David Miles...

"alex_holden, 5. A fancy cooling fan with four spring-loaded blades that automatically reduce the pitch at high revs to save on power and fuel. "

Its a Dowty Autofan and would originally have been yellow and would of had much longer blades - this one has been trimmed to fit a Minor already - That's my anorak bit over with for now :P

Are a shame but at least their parts are helping to keep others on the road...

(ow well can buy them online) and also 10 m6 bolts for the door sills (sorry cant remember the olde sizes) ;) i bought a mmoc car servicing dvd to get me started and thats it!

I saw a new front door that I could have done with, until I heard the price! Probably quite fair if it was for a Bugatti! Bought most things required though!

Hi Vikki Newton Commercial don't come to our Rally's and I believe the main reason is that they are a trim specialist and not just for our Moggies.
