Setting valve gaps on late 1275's

I had been told that turning these engines over by hand was a pain because they are fitted with a plain nut and not a starting handle 'lug' on the nose of the crank - therefore facilitating rocking the car back and forth in gear to find the valve lift points.
However I found (the second time
) that I could, just, get a socket and ratchet spanner on without fouling the radiator etc. this makes accurate setting of the valve gaps a doddle.
