wouldn't it be a little short sighted to fit it to a standard gearbox?
I would guess you would want the slightly better MG 1275 box (quite similar to the Minor 1098 box)

The Ford 5 speed is therefore a good alternative.

Yep! That sounds like JLH!!! He's good but VERY expensive. I paid about £1400 for all my rear end conversion (axle, prop, radius arms, turreted shockers, etc). AND I fitted / welded it all in myself!

You do get good quality stuff but you really have to pay for it!

The problem is Ray that they are not so easy to get hold of any more even high mileage ones like turbominor came across were at lot more than that, I did not find one local to me at all and ended going to Wellingborough, although it was a nice trip and was for a Midget one.

well yes, you shouldn't expect to find one without leaving your locality. but Welly is probably nearer to you than JLH, so I will argue the point anyway ;-)
