Speedo needle wobbling

Post by DaisyMayFozz »

Hi
I have just got a minor and I have one small question. The speedo needle wobbles until I go past forty. Is there a way to fix this?Is it the speedo cable that is the fault?
Thanks in advance :)

Welcome to the forum! Yes - it's likely to be a sticky cable. Complete new cable is not expensive - but you could try claning and lightly greasing the one on the car.

Thanks for the quick reply.Would it be greased top or bottom of the cable? We thought bottom. P.S our last morris minor was 20 years ago so we can''t remember things like points etc etc! :-?
thanks

Take the cable out of the outer sleeve and grease it all the way along

But not too much at the top - wipe it away - otherwise it will work up and into the speedo, which is not good.
