Normal running temperature, please?

Does anybody know the normal running temperature for a Minor? I think my temperature gauge is over-reading; after starting and driving it swiftly rises to around 100 - 110 celsius. If still for a while it reads near 140^C.

Well - either the water is boiling furiously - or trying to do so, but held down by a fantastic pressure cap - or, it is indeed reading high! Sure you have it connected correctly through the volts stabiliser ? If you don't have a meter - test the volts stabiliser with a bulb, - bright on 12 volts, less bright on 10 volts !

It is all wired correctly now, and yes I did the bulb test earlier. I may indeed take it back to where I bought it from tomorrow and have them check it out.
However, what is a normal temperature?

Depends on whatever thermostat you have fitted - so a 74 stat would run at ~ 74 C!! An 88 stat would run at ~ 88 C etc. 74 would be the most likely stat fitted - unless someone has already fancied a heater that might actually provide some useful heat - and upgraded the stat!

Weren't you the same guy who smoked their wiring yesterday? For the gauge to read that high it is not been controlled through the voltage reg correctly....

Or the sensor resistance is not matched to the gauge.

Mine runs at 80 degrees during cool weather, rising to 85 at this time of year, going up to about 90 in traffic. I have removed the fan and so far 90 is the highest reading! They reckon the Minor is somewhat overcooled, and mine seems to bear that out!
