Hi
Just been cleaning up the engine bay on Sky to tidy her up a bit and found the remnants of this plate.
Was this the original chassis plate? Is it possible to get replacements? Not that it matters at all but would be nice addition.

Plate should read Nuffield Metal Products, Washwood Heath Birmingham - they made bodyshells. Googled it - v. interesting!

So I guess the Z222 number would be the start of the body/chassis number?

Could be or some patent number - not sure - if it's part of your chassis number you can check it with your registration document (V5C)

The NMP plate was attached to every body shell produced at the Nuffield Metal Products plant. The number may be a reference to a body type but I can't verify this as my '58’s plate doesn't have a number on it, just the logo and address. I don’t think these are re-produced making it ‘nice’ to have one. Also the last Minors, not produced by NMP, don’t carry the plate.
It is my understanding that the chassis numbers where stamped on the bulkhead near where the loom passes through into the car. These should match the one on the 'Morris' plate near the voltage control box. I don't think they are linked to the NMP plate number but I'm up to being corrected.

The NMP plate should be the body number same as the place screwed to the passenger side engine bay near the top., not the chassis number (near the regulator box.) Most do rot out.<br>

Excellent replies, thanks.
Dryad, thanks for the picture, does the number on the right relate to any of the numbers in the documentation?

None whatsoever! I hadn't even noticed it before until I uploaded the photo on to my computer.

My car had an NMP plate too, well the remnants of one anyway. Would be nice to track a replacement down.
