Hi all,

first post but have been a moggie owner for many many years.

I have a couple of 918 cc side valve engines and have been asked if they are for sale. Also have a June 49 Lowlight saloon which i am considering selling.

Engines arnt anything special, have been stored in a shed for many years and both are the external oil filter type. Was wondering as to how much they are worth?
Perhaps a forum member might have an idea.
I do hope this is the right place to ask such a question, appologies if not.

Andy

There are two types of Minor side valve engines, the early type had no water pump, thermostat or water jacket and had the dynamo bolted to the head. The later type had provision for a water pump plus thermostat and water jacket.
If you wish to sell them try placing an advert on the Series MM website http://seriesmm.mmoc.org.uk.

The value of the engines will be entirely dependent on the condition. Rusted solid = almost nothing. Lovingly preserved with oiled/greased bores and bearings, stored in a low humidity environment = £100 or more. Only way to find out is to advertise them here or on ebay, with honest description and pictures - and wait for the offers/bids to roll in!
Similaraly with the Low Light - condition is everything.
