Hi all

Now that my shell will shortly be going for its rebuild i am planning ahead for its return and rust prevention.

Could someone give me there ideas about using waxoyl and jenolite, i have never heard of Jenolite? The shell will be protected of course but i will need to treat the box sections etc and prevent rust in many other places etc

Jenolite is a rust covertor/stabilizer only really suitable for areas you can get to.

Waxoyl is great for box sections, but their applicator is poor, and you need something like a paraffin gun and compressor to get a good misty coat into the box sections. You only need a thin coating, so don't overdo it with the waxoyl, as it can create water traps/

Clear chassis drain holes a few days after Waxoyl has dried out.

I personally prefer Dinitrol 3125.

To get rid of rust, you need something with acid in it, and I think you will find that jenolite has this addition, you may need several applications though and wire brush, most other stuff seems to put a covering coat over the rust, to stabilize.

I think the chemical name for it is phosforic acid (spelling prob wrong) Basically you remove the flakey scabby bits and paint on the acid to stabilise the surface which can then be rubbed down, filled and painted as required.

Phosphoric acid - isn't that the stuff they dip old fireplaces in? Nasty stuff

Not that nasty - main ingredient of Coca Cola!

Not sure if phosphoric acid is available for DIY. The trade should register for its use and correct disposal.

Could be the reason why I dont drink Coca cola

I used Bilt Hamber S50 instead of Waxoyl, it is much thinner and it really penetrates.For underseal I would recommend Dinitrol.Bilt Hamber also do a very good rust "digester"
