Chassis parts for a morris minor 1000

hello i have just aquired a 1968 morris minor 1000.
It has failed the mot on rotten chassis, i am planing on restoring it but would like to know other people views on the chassis.
Is there any were i can buy a chassis section so i can cut the old one out and weld just the section?
Any help would be gratefuly receved.

Hi,

You have an issue there that is not alien to many of us...

My advice would be to Google 'Morris Minor Parts' and check out the responses you get. I'd also look to replace the whole section and not plate it with that sized hole, it's what I'm doing to one of my Travellers.

Repair or replace depends entirely on how good at welding and fabricating you are. All the usual on line suppliers sell chassis legs but you can make repair sections yourself depending on how far the rot extends. As with most cruicial repairs though I would get an expert to recommend a course of action unless of course you are proficient yourself.

thank you for all your fast responces i have a welder and my job is to work on large construstion plant so i have had welding experiance (altho not on small tin) i will get 2 chassis legs and weld them both on at the same time i weld the floor up :D

Probably need to remove the engine for good access - possibly worthwhile rolling the car on it's side too! Do one side at a time - so you can compare dimensions from the other side!
